2001 Chateau Lascombes Margaux
WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Château Lascombes 2001 displays wonderful deep, intense color. Aromas of red berry fruit combine well with elegant oak. An explosive attack on the palate, with power, concentration, richness and roundness, is followed by a delicious mingling of fruit, spice and oak. The finish is long and enticing with a hint of chocolate. This vintage is seductive and elegant, well-worthy of its appellation, and magnificent for laying down.

"The 2000 was the finest Lascombes produced in over three decades, and the 2001 continues the great success this estate is enjoying under the guidance of Yves Vatelot (of Chateau Reignac) and Dr. Alain Raynaud (Chateau Quinault l'Enclos). A blend of 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot, it spent 18 months in cask (4 on its lees), and was bottled unfiltered. A dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by ripe aromas of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, and cassis. Medium-b...

Medium-bodied, stylish, and elegant, with sweet tannin, impressive concentration, tremendous persistence as well as flavor intensity, and a 40+ second finish, this noble claret should be at its finest between 2005-2016.April 2008Wine Advocate # 15392

Hy: when first opened, ripe aromas of berries, when poured out, very strong aromas of white chocalate. When first drink, very pleasant, easy drinking but not as powerful as paulliac. After 1hr decanted, the taste is different. More settled, white choc gone, more tanin
