Generous aromas of cassis, ripe Bing cherry, sweet tobacco and spicy oak. Full body with velvety texture. Rich cassis and plum flavors with black pepper and dark chocolate notes. Refined and well-balanced, yet marked by exceptional length.

90 Points, Wine Spectator:

"Impressive. Well-oaked, yet balanced and smooth-textured, with currant, blackberry, plum and mocha-scented oak all well-proportioned, finishing with a smooth, complex aftertaste. It wins extra points for elegance and finesse. Drink now through 2009. 568 cases made. –JL" (6/30/2004)

90 Points, Wine Enthusiast:

"A very fine wine that is soft and voluptuous in the mouth. Its power is in the deep core of blackberry fruit and the tightly wound tannins. Not a long-term ager, but should gain complexity through 2008. — S.H." (11/15/2004)

Vineyard Notes

On land that has supported vines since the 1880s, our home vineyard was the third property planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in what would later become the Stags Leap District, and fruit from this property helped establish the area’s reputation in the 1970s. Like its predecessors, this single-vineyard wine displays the ripe and complex fruit, supple texture, and solid structure that helped define the District.
