WINEMAKER'S NOTE
The aromas reflect the classic
“Rutherford Dust” notes of black cherry. The wine is medium full-bodied, with deep cherry-mineral, currant-anise flavors, and this vintage has a fine veneer of tannins combined with good acidity to support up to fifteen years of aging.
Food PairingA fine wine to drink young with grilled steaks, roast leg of lamb with shallots, or a ripe wedge of Fontina or aged Vermont cheddar cheese.
Expert Reviews

Wine & SpiritsBV's flagship offering, the 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve reveals a saturated ruby/purple color along with an intriguing perfume of black currants, lead pencil shavings, loamy soil, and wood. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, and elegant, this Bordeaux-styled Cabernet finishes a bit short. The aromatics suggest a 90-point wine, and the flavors and finish something in the upper eighties. While it will not rank alongside any of the great BV Private Reserves from the fifties, sixties, seventies, or early eighties, it is a positive development for this historic estate. Anticipated maturity: now-2015.
