Connoisseurs' Guide to California WinesRipe berries and a strong, distinctive streak of minerals are the driving forces of this very solid, firmly structured wine, and, if showing a touch of the restraint that comes from somewhat cooler climate grapes, it nonetheless conveys clear impressions of density and depth. A little less fleshy and sporting a little more "grip" than its cousins, this one tightens a bit as finishing acid makes itself known, and the need for five years of softening is clear.
