Medium ruby-red. Black cherry, licorice and bitter chocolate on the nose; slight hint of medicinal austerity. Fat, chunky and dense; superripe and low in acidity, yet finishes with substantial but even tannins and good grip. Not particularly elegant today; this will merit a score at the top of my projected range if the elevage firms the wine without drying it.
