WINEMAKER'S NOTE
The 1998 Alexander Valley is a beautifully elegant Cabernet Sauvignon with a medium ruby-red color and a nose of blackberry, strawberry, ginger and soy sauce. It is seamless on the palate and has a fruity attack, elegant mid-palate with a long finish of fruit and herbs. Enjoy now through 2018.

Rating: 87/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 102, May/June 2002. Full red-ruby, with a hint of amber. Riper on the nose than the Alexander, with currant, loam and mocha aromas complicated by herbs and nutty oak. Offers more texture and sweetness to buffer its acidity, with bitter cherry and currant flavors in the middle and on the aftertaste. Here the tannins are broader, but the lingering finish is still a bit dry and green.

Dark Ruby to garnet color and a complex nose of blackbery jam, chocolate, roasted coffee, sandalwood and nutmeg. It has a full body and a rich elegant finish with nicely integrated tannins. It will continue to get smoother over the next months and will improve for 15-20 years.

supposed to be peaking was slightly tart needed some decent o2. after about 20 min wine settled - chocolate anise plum and spicy end notes not as full bodied as expected smooth drinking after it got more oxygen lacking in complexity did not fully meet peak expectations
