The colour is crimson, but will develop some amber tints from its oak maturation and later bottle age. The aroma is varietal with a complex of berry and peppery like features. Strong lifted aromas of variety and oak. The flavour is young and fruity. A soft and rich middle palate with only the trace of oak tannin on the finish. The 1997 is an elegant style but does show a little more fruit and body weight on the palate than previous vintages. Alcohol: 13.5% by volume

Rating: 87/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 85, July/August 1999 Full red. Exotic aromas of raspberry, cherry, pepper, orange peel and Christmas spices. Juicy and snappy but on the lean side, with modest fat and depth. Finishes with light tannins. Has the cut to serve well at the table.
