1997 Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon
Saturated full ruby. A fruit bomb of a nose: cassis, blueberry, licorice and espresso, complicated by a floral topnote from the franc and a whiff of dark chocolate. Suave, chewy and very concentrated,...
Dalla Valle Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a small amount of Cabernet Franc and is aged in 50% to 60% new French oak barrels. This wine consistently exhibits impressive structure and velvety berry flavors vintage after vintage. The first vintage produced was in 1986. A classic Napa Valley Cabernet.
Robert ParkerRating: 99/100 - As reviewed by The Wine Advocate
Wine Spectator"Tremendous flavor, dark, ripe, rich and packed with black cherry, currant, anise, cedar and spice. Finishes with firm but deliciously well-integrated tannins. Best from 2003 through 2012. 2,400 cases made."
DecanterRating: 5/5 - As reviewed by Decanter. Full-bodied and ultra ripe but with great depth, structure and a long finish to give a sense of classic proportion. Sweet blackcurrant fruit, liquorice, raspberry and coffee aromas. Rich texture, firm structure, incredible flavours.
International Wine CellarRating: 95(+?) - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 90, May/June 2000 Saturated full ruby. Explosive aromas of blackberry, black cherry, bitter chocolate, camphor, black licorice and violet. Extremely dense and thick without being heavy. Superb flavor intensity and depth. The thoroughly ripe tannins coat the entire palate. The slow-mounting, extremely long finish offers wonderful grip and vibrancy. A great vintage for Maya.
