Deep ruby-black, similar to the 1995. Rich vanillin oak and black fruit aromas, with rather pungent spice and herbal notes from the wood. Medium-full body. Ample, sweet berry and dark cherry fruit and high-toast vanillin oak dominate, coating the palate with a lush wave of fruit before firm, rich tannins lend some stiffness to the finish.
