1996 Château Lanessan Haut-Médoc
WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Lanessan is located in Cussac just south of Saint-Julien and opposite the big vineyard of Chateau Gruaud-Larose. The 1996 is an impressive effort, deep ruby with plenty of blackcurrant, spice box and cedar, quite savoury and long in the mouth. Great value.

bought from K&L. <br/><br/>"more aromatically reserved than 1999, this is darker, sturdier and more powerful. firm, deep mid-palate of brooding, dark fruit before we get to the power finish of firm tannins and mineral. this serious wine will stand up to the richest and heartiest of foods and is perfect to enjoy on a cold winter evening."<br/><br/>my review<br/>deep with medium body. flavors of asphalt and spiced oak. purple fruit with sweet tannin. needed to be decanted.

Stinky, bretty on the nose. After a few hours decanting, ok to drink. This wine is past it's prime.
