Beaulieu's top wine, it was heroic in the 1968 to 1970 era but then dropped off and did not find its way back to the upper echelons until the mid-90s. We did not expect this version to age especially well, and now, at fifteen, it has peaked and seems destined to fade a bit too quickly. It will please fans of aged wines, but it has not developed much that is special. One star when first reviewed.
